A traditional Burns Supper is the celebration of the life and poetry of Robert Burns. The first Burns Suppers were held in memorium of Robert Burns’ death on July 21 at the end of the 18th century. These dinners were held by his friends in Ayrshire. As the popularity for Burns Suppers progressed, the First Burns Club was organized in 1808 by merchants in Greenock and these more widely-known suppers were held on the anniversary of his death, January 25th.

Diamond Jubilee Walk

On the afternoon of Sunday 7th September we took this delightful circular walk from Leaderfoot Bridge to Earlston called the Diamond Jubilee Walk which was opened in 2012.
The round trip was 8.5 miles according to our “iPhone”. The Earlston Paths Group have done an outstanding job creating this interesting walk. As we meandered through the pine forest on the first leg of the walk along side the River Leader, we came upon a seat made from the river stone which was a nice spot for a wee breather.
